It was a good day for the Pharm, with Lehigh and Reading winning, and the DSL Phillies winning a playoff game. But it wasn’t all sunshine: the Threshers had to face a rehabbing superstar, and the BlueClaws were left idle thanks to a rainstorm.

Lehigh Valley 7, Buffalo 5

This one was tight throughout, but the IronPigs scored two in the ninth to ensure they walked away the victors. Colby Thomas was three for five with a triple, and Carter Kieboom and Dylan Moore had two hits each. Kameron Misner had only one, but he made it count by sending it over the fence. Starter Casey Lawrence went 5.2 innings with nine hits and as many earned runs as strikeouts (four); it was enough to get the win.

Reading 11, Portland 1

The Sea Dogs scored in just one of their innings. The Fightin Phils scored in five of theirs: one run in each of the first, fourth, and seventh innings, and then four in both of the eighth and ninth to really rub it in. Bryan Rincon was four for six with three doubles, Raider Tello was three for five, and Bryson Ware was three for four. Starter Cody Bowker tossed five innings, surrendering a solo shot and a double, but nothing else.

BlueClaws, being a type of crab, don’t mind water, but Renegades do. This one will be made up today.

Dunedin 7, Clearwater 4

The Threshers surrendered fourteen hits as they fell to the Blue Jays. One of those came from a fellow by the name of Vladimir Guerrero Junior. Clearwater had nine hits of their own, and all but one Thresher had at least one. They also had plenty of walks (eight), and plenty of strikeouts (11). Nolan Beltran reached base four times, twice on hits, twice on walks. Jacob Pruitt took the loss in relief, allowing seven hits (two being homers) and three runs across three innings. Tyler Bowen struck out four of the 10 batters he faced.

DSL Phillies 6, DSL Astros Orange 0

The DSL Cup Playoffs are underway, and the Phillies blanked the Astros (Orange variety, there’s also a DSL Astros Blue). The Phillies scored six runs, but only had three RBI, thanks to bringing home runners on two errors and a wild pitch. Two of those RBI came from second baseman Javen Maduro, on a single and groundout. Starter Yilmar Samudio went three innings with four Ks and one hit allowed, and Luis Mirabal got the win with three innings of one hit ball himself.
